Make Your Product Photo's Background Pure White
Upload a photo and get it back on a white background, sized for Amazon, Walmart, TikTok Shop, eBay or Etsy. Then see how it scores against that marketplace's main-image rules. Your first fix is free, no email needed.
Check an image
What this checks
Four rules, each with the measured number rather than a pass/fail badge, so you can see how far off an image is and whether it is worth fixing. Each one below separates what Amazon publishes from how ComplianceKit measures it, because the two are not always the same and the difference matters.
Pure white background
Amazon's rule: the main image background must be pure white, RGB 255, 255, 255. (Amazon Product image guide)
We test it exactly, with no tolerance — 254 is not white. Every pixel that misses is marked, which is why an image that looks white on screen can still fail. A studio shot on a grey sweep is the usual cause.
White background rules85% product fill
Amazon's rule: the product should fill at least 85% of the image. Its clothing and shoes style guides word it as “at least 85% of the image area” without saying how that area is measured. (Amazon clothing imaging guide, page 12; Amazon shoes style guide, page 9)
Because Amazon does not define the measurement, we measure it by span: the product's longest side as a share of the frame. On a 2000×2000 image that is 1,700 pixels. That is our method, not a quotation from Amazon.
The 85% ruleDimensions
Amazon's rule: 500 pixels on the longest side is the floor and 10,000 the ceiling. 1,000 pixels is what Amazon recommends, and what turns zoom on. (Amazon Product image guide)
An image from 500 to 999px can upload but does not zoom. Our checker recommends at least 1,600px; our size guide suggests 2,000x2,000px for new photography. Both are ComplianceKit recommendations.
Size requirementsFormat and file size
Amazon's accepted formats are JPEG, PNG, TIFF and non-animated GIF, with JPEG the safe default. WebP, HEIC and camera RAW are not on that list — convert before uploading. (Amazon Product image guide)
We also accept WebP for checking, and cap uploads at 10 MB and 25 megapixels. Those caps are ours: our format guide found no general Amazon per-image file size limit in the publicly readable pages it cites. We look at compression too, since a heavily re-saved JPEG can pass every rule above and still look poor at zoom.
Format requirementsWhat it does not check
Worth saying plainly, so a pass is not mistaken for a guarantee that Amazon will accept the listing:
- Text, logos and watermarks on the image.
- Category-specific rules — clothing, shoes and some others have their own.
- Whether the image actually shows the product you are listing.
- Anything about your listing copy, price or keywords.
The full set of Amazon image rules covers the ones this tool cannot measure, including category exceptions and text and logo rules.
What it costs
Checking an image is free and needs no account — upload one and you will see every measurement. The first fix in a browser is free, with no account or email. A free account adds 3 lifetime fixes. The fix produces a square PNG with an exact 255 background, our 90% product span target, and 1,600 to 3,000px dimensions. Paid plans raise the limits and roll unused credits over.
Images checked without an account are deleted 24 hours after your last check, along with the record of the check. See the privacy policy.
