Make Your Product Photo's Background Pure White
Upload a photo and get it back on a pure white background, squared and centred. Then see how it scores against Amazon's main-image rules. Your first fix is free, no email needed.
What the free fix does to your photo
Upload one product photo. In a few seconds you get a before and after, and one click downloads the result:
- The background becomes pure white. The product is cut out and every pixel around it is set to exactly RGB 255, 255, 255.
- The product is framed. It is centred on a square canvas, with its longest side filling 90% of the frame.
- The size is right. The canvas is at least 1600 pixels on a side, and at most 3000.
- You get a PNG. PNG keeps the white exact, where a JPEG export can leave thousands of near-white pixels around the product.
The first fix in a browser is free, with no account and no email. Before it, you see the photo measured against Amazon’s main image rules: background, product fill, dimensions and format.
Why the white has to be exactly 255
A background can look white and still not be. RGB 254, 254, 254 is one step below white: the difference can be difficult to spot on screen. Measure the exported pixel values. Amazon is specific about this for the main image. Its shoes style guide says:
“MAIN images must have a pure white background (pure white blends in with the Amazon search and product detail pages - RGB color values of 255, 255, 255; hex #FFFFFF).”
The white background guide covers what Amazon’s guides say, how to check a background yourself, and why JPEG leaves off-white pixels behind.
Removing a background, checking it, fixing it
Three kinds of tool help with a white background, and each leaves different work for you.
| Kind of tool | What it does | What you still check yourself |
|---|---|---|
| Background remover | Cuts the product out and puts it on white or a transparent background. | That the white is exactly 255, 255, 255 in the file you export, the framing, and the size. |
| Image checker | Measures the image against Amazon’s numbers and shows what fails. | Fixing whatever fails. |
| Checker that fixes | Measures the image, then fixes the background, framing and size, as ComplianceKit does. | Text, logos, props and your category’s own rules, which no tool here checks. |
What it will not do
It works best with one product per photo. It does not remove text or logos printed on the product, and it does not retouch the product itself. The Amazon image requirements guide covers the rules a white background does not settle.
Questions
Is it free?
Your first fix in a browser is free, with no account and no email. A free account adds 3 more fixes. Paid plans start at $49 a month.
What file do I get?
A square PNG, at least 1600 pixels on a side, with the background at exactly RGB 255, 255, 255 and the product filling 90% of the frame. PNG keeps the white exact: JPEG compression can leave near-white pixels around the edges.
Is the white really pure white?
Yes. Every pixel outside the product is written as 255, 255, 255, and the edge of the product is kept hard rather than blended, so no grey or off-white pixels are left between the product and the background.
Does it keep my photo’s location or camera data?
No. The file is built from the image pixels alone, so camera data such as GPS location is not copied into it.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. Upload from your camera roll, and the download button sits right under the before and after.
